Do you need to talk?

Ulverston Mind worked with a number of local employers and businesses last year - they not only supported the work we did through donations and fundraising, but gave us valuable feedback about our services and ways we could improve to reach more people that wanted to access them.

As a result of community fundraising through cake sales, tuckshops, comedy nights, events and local councillors' funds, Ulverston Mind has launched a new pilot evening service providing counselling and wellbeing advice to people who work and cannot access daytime services because they're working.

This is a first in the region and we hope to reach more people who up until now have been unable to benefit from our services because they're day-based and people who work are often excluded from them as a result.

To book an appointment or to find out how to support this new service through donation or fundraising please email us.

Feedback from a previous user of this service

I would like to say how much help I have been given from Ulverston Mind evening service. Over the last few years my life seems to have been slowly spiralling out of control until I reached a point where I was having some negative thoughts indeed! This is when I knew I needed help.

My partner suggested speaking to someone from Mind. I went along with it, but because of my negative attitude at the time I didn’t think much of the idea and anyway I couldn’t get time off work. They phoned Mind for me and found out that I could talk to someone outside of work hours.

I remember at the first appointment I was both anxious and angry from the day I had had, so shaking a little and on the edge of breaking down in tears. I met the well being adviser and this is where the healing began.

Over our session they held a metaphorical mirror up to me and showed that the way I was dealing with and reacting to situations really only hurt me and the little things that seemed important at the time were really only just another part of life. After a while I started putting the things we spoke about into practice and found I was getting through the days much easier. Now I feel a new lease of life and can look forward to the future, leaving the past in the past.

Although I have finished my sessions the wellbeing adviser made it clear to me that if I need a reminder or support that someone will be available to put me back on track. This makes me feel confident to get on with my life. I know that things will challenge me, it now I have the tools deal with them and if things get on top of me, Ulverston Mind are there to help.

Thank you so much.
