Ulverston Mind GDPR statement

Ulverston MIND's aim is to make sure the services we provide are relevant to and inclusive of the people and communities we serve. Achieving this means we are open to improving provision and accessibility wherever we can - where additional resources are needed we seek to recruit and train volunteers and fundraise to enable this.

Some of our services are scheduled on certain days and at certain times whilst others are available all the time. Services that require more privacy are held in our offices or other locations such as a private room at a health center whilst the more social sessions are held at various community venues in Barrow* (Connecting Mums* only), Dalton, Coniston and Ulverston with new groups opening where need and resources allow.

Our informal drop-ins and group work are peer supportive in nature with recovery to better or improved mental health at their core. They are led by a skilled and dedicated team of volunteers, all of whom are DBS checked and have completed Ulverston Mind's initial volunteer learning module and benefit from ongoing learning and development. An essential feature of our work and ethos is that everyone is treated with respect and equality is observed and promoted throughout our organisation. People who support or attend our services and peer group sessions are all responsible for making them safe spaces for each other. Peer group support, i.e learning from each other in an encouraging and positive environment, can be powerful and enabling in recovery to better mental health and wellbeing.

• Community Listening Events . Ulverston Mind team are out and about in your community! Each week we come to a community venue such as the library, health centre, leisure centre, education venue or shops. If you see us come over and say HI ! our team have time for you and can offer a listening ear, information, link you in with our services or provide details about how you can fundraise or volunteer with us.
  
• Counselling and Talking Therapies are available on a one to one basis at our Ulverston Office without the need for a GP referral. We have a team of professional counsellors and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who volunteer their time and expertise. Sometimes there is a waiting list for this service.
  
• Evening Counselling and Wellbeing sessions Do you work during the day but want access to mental health and wellbeing services? We now hold evening counselling sessions by appointment only.
  
• Forces Personnel, Veterans, Blue Light Services and Families are always welcome to drop by for a chat, advice or request counselling. We have plans to create a more specific service and group support and welcome your input to help us design this or volunteer to be part of delivering a new service.
  
• Information Services from our Ulverston Mind head office. We can supply you with mental health books and leaflets, guidance and support as well as a listening ear. We also take this information along to community locations such as the library, health clinics, work places or community events. Please send your enquiry to: advice@ulverstonmind.org.uk
  
• Tea, Talk and Learning Days . Ulverston Mind Team regularly visit local employers and community venues where we are available to chat, give information about services, and volunteering with us. We can facilitate learning together workshops and group discussion with leaders and teams on mentally healthy workforces.
  
• Allotment Drop-In is a Drop-In which allows people the opportunity to learn new skills, talk to understanding volunteers to discuss things which may be on their mind, or just to improve their wellbeing through excercise.
  

  • This service has 1 weekly session and runs on Wednesday at 10:30AM
• Connecting Mums is a major project with multiple support group sessions across South Cumbria. Mums of all ages support each other, gain confidence and improve their mental wellbeing after childbirth through training, activities, day trips and play time with other mums and their toddlers and babies. We also offer home visits. This service has sessions in Barrow, Dalton, Coniston and Ulverston.
  

  • This service has 7 weekly sessions and the next session is on Wednesday at 9:30AM
• The Friday drop-in at the Flannery Centre allows you to pop in for a brew and to socialise with other members of the community. We have volunteers and information available if you wish to also learn about the services and activities we offer.
  

  • This service has 1 weekly session and runs on Friday at 11AM
• Women's Group at the Revista Cafe, Ulverston is supported and led by women volunteers from our team. It provides sessions for women of all ages to take time out for a chat and a relaxing brew in a friendly environment. You can socialise with others or learn about some of the work we do in the community. This service runs weekly.
