Announcing our Total Knockout Champions for 2018...it's Croftlands Park!
Croftlands Park - Total Knockout Champions 2018!

The talking is over, the games are finished and the dust (should that be the rain?) has settled on a fantastic event which exceeded our expectations especially given the weather.

We can now announce that the team that rose above all others and conquered all was Croftlands Park! Croftlands Park are a group of friends who play for Croftlands Park Football Club so congratulations to Charlie Bunting, Charlie Segger, Harry Gallivan, Tom Woodend and Warren Bolton on winning the event outright.

Hopefully you'll be back next year to try and hold onto the Total Knockout Challenge Cup.

Our second place team was Micro Biology, who also bested their colleagues from Furness General Hospital (team Blood Science). Well done on both counts.

Third place was a tie between Birds of War (who also won the prize of best fancy dress) and Gorgonites who couldn't be split on points tallies so they share the last step on our 2018 podium.

Other teams who also came in fancy dress were our team from Siemens, Jam In Da Wrong Step, who finished the day in 9th and Ulverston Mind's very own Connecting Mums service team who finished in 14th.

With two teams from Furness General Hospital and two teams associated with health clubs in the final slot, the final matches of the day were particularly fiercely contested so thanks to Blood Science, Micro Biology, Lakeland Lamas and Cumbria Strength & Conditioning for making it a very competitive end to the day!

The event was also covered by the North West Evening Mail and you can read the article here.

We couldn't have done this event without you...

On behalf of the Trustees and all staff at Ulverston Mind, we would like to say a massive 'THANK YOU' to all our Total Knockout competitors. Well done to all the teams that took part, we really appreciate your time and effort and we hope to see you again next year.

You turned up with a cheery determination and despite the wind and rain, you refused to let your spirits be dampened. You all put heart and soul into each round of running, ducking, jumping, spinning, crawling, diving, with everyone soaked to the skin and exhausted by the end of it!! You were all brilliant sports and without you big hearted people, we could not have made our fundraising event the success it was on Sunday.

Also a very special thanks to those who were able to stay for the presentation at the end of the event. It was a long day and due to how we had to structure the competition we know some of you did sadly have to leave after you'd competed. Without you all being on time and being so organised in your teams we wouldn't have been able to run the event so smoothly which made things easier for us - again, thankyou!

We also had a lot of help from the community...

As this was our first event of this type, we had a lot of very generous assistance in organising it. Ulverston Mind would like to thank the following people for their time and energy in organising this event:

  • Rotary Ulverston for helping keep us organised on the day
  • St John's Ambulance for supporting us and our competitors
  • Ford Park for hosting us
  • Ulverston Town Council Mayor, Councillor David Webster, for presenting our prizes
  • Our raffle ticket seller on the day Janice
  • Mick from Playdale, our master of ceremonies for the day
  • Geoffrey for organising collections and guiding people to registration on the day
  • Playdale staff who helped with registration, scoring and setting up
  • Thanks also to the events team including: Dave, Louise, Peter, Simon, Heather, Helen, Charlotte, Emma, Richard, Jill, Jane

Fundraising and future plans...

We have plans for a Total Knockout 2019 so please keep checking our Facebook page and website, mid 2019, for details. So far you have helped to raise a total of £2,798 for Ulverston Mind, for which we are extremely grateful! We are able to take donations up until 31st October, so please share the donations page (https://mydonate.bt.com/events/ulvmindtotalknockout) with anyone who is interested in making a donation to this event, and we'll hopefully achieve our £5,000 target soon, or get as near to it as possible!

Ulverston Mind's Connecting Mums team...

At Ulverston Mind we had our own team called Mummy Mafia taking part from our Connecting Mums service. I think Charlotte Wood from team Mummy Mafia sums up the event for a lot of our participants and so we'll leave the final words with Charlotte. See you for Total Knockout 2019!

Here are a selection of some of the photos that were taken on the day. If your team photo is not named feel free to let us know and we'll put your name on your photo. If you have any great photos you would like to share feel free to send them in to us.
